Good Morning Everyone,
I am looking forward to a Great two weeks of practice and fun football,
although I have to be honest, it took me a couple of days to get to
this point. We as adults know that learning curves can sometimes be
steep and even when we are at our best there may be someone or
something that gets the best of us. With that being said, we need to
make sure that we as well as the boys don't give up on what still can
be a very good season in terms of winning, losing, learning, and having
a good time.
Over the next two weeks you will notice the following changes at practice;
1. Because each child learns at a different pace,I have asked some
parents to take a more active roll in our practice sessions. This will
allow us to spend more individual time with the boys in smaller groups
an increase our retention rate.
2. We will be using more visual aids to assist in the learning process.
Also:
1. After practice on Thursday I am planning a water baloon fight, I
will supply the baloons just bring a towel for yourself and your son.
2. Next week practice will begin at 5:45 PM its getting darker earlier so we need to get started earlier.
3. We do not have a game this Saturday, I would like to do a shorts and Tee shirt practice at 10 am.
See you this evening at 6,
Coach Woods

From Coach Woods
I want to thank all the parents
for your participation and support that you have given your children
the coaching staff and team parents to this point. As I mentioned
earlier at our first team meeting our primary goals are to teach your
sons’ to be young men, the game of football, teamwork, accountability
and the positive impact of hard work. We’ve had a great start, and the
following is a summary of the next steps we need to take to continue on
our path toward reaching our aforementioned goals.
1. In order to maintain our 90 minute practices each player needs
to arrive at practice 10 minutes early ready to practice in full pads
so that we can start promptly at 6pm.
2. Players need to keep themselves fully hydrated prior to
practice, at least two glasses of water after practice and a minimum of
three glasses before 3pm the day of practices.
3. We only have three players on our team that have played tackle
football before, and although flag football is great preparation, the
physical and mental demands are much greater in tackle football. With
that being said, the learning curve for our group is extremely steep
and missing practices will set each player and the team goals behind.
4. We need to keep the children as focused on practice as
possible, if there is an equipment problem or loose belt or untied shoe
please send them to the coaches on the practice field. Also mark your
son’s water or beverage container and place it on the water table this
will keep the boys all in one place and allows us to get back to
practice quickly.
5. Finally, no time outs with your child. The coaching staff is
attempting to build a rapport with each player and trying to learn how
to motivate each one as well.
Thank you again for all of your support and assistance and I look forward to seeing you all tomorrow.
